"To Human" is a verb
How about this:
Start believing in your dreams and leaving behind all the doubts. Leaving behind the fear of failure. The fear of not being enough. The fear of not being loved.
The bottom line is always about love. We fear we are not going to be loved in the way we want to if we present to the world in an authentic, raw way.
So we put on masks that give us the false perception of being “better”, a perfected version of ourselves in order to be more lovable.
“Why would others love me with all my imperfections?
Why would they love me with my mood changes? My extra pounds? My insecurities? My needs? My scars? My past? My future?” And the list goes on and on.
We make up in our mind all the reasons why people around us wouldn’t be able to accept us unless we embody the idealistic design we construct for our lives.
Like if we were life-engineers whose goal is to create the most efficient, perfect machine that achieves maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense.
But guess what?
We are humans. Individuals capable of behaviors that are of greater complexity. We feel. We need. We love. We breathe emotions since we are born, and maybe since before.
The moment you realize that “to human” is a verb, everything changes. It means to care to your core. To matter to yourself. To hack into your entire life, see the whole picture, and connect your dots.
So, my conclusion is to stop caring about pleasing others and trying to get others to love and accept ourselves. It’s ephemeral.
The culprit is to learn to love ourselves, that we are enough. That we can be loved for how we truly are. And learn to accept all the shades once we felt intolerable and inadmissible. The world is not black or white. The world is full of freakin’ shades.
Welcome the rainbow.
Much Love,
Manuela
